Wondering what grammar skills to teach to your student of this level will be doing?

I have got you covered! In this course, your student will acquire skills by grade level based on Common Core Standards; but also, I have added what I have personally seen to be appropriate and helpful for each grade level as an extension to the student’s learning.

Of course, what you teach your students will ultimately depend on your own curriculum and your own standards — and most importantly, what you see that your scholars need. Every class and school are different!

So, while I hope that these lists are helpful to you as a starting point, I anticipate that you will need to make some adjustments and adaptations.

The first introduction children have to grammar is via spoken language: hearing how sentences are properly formed and phrased. Once they begin school, though, they see those formations translated into writing. As they move through grade school, students are introduced to increasingly more complex grammatical concepts. Building on a foundation of previously learned grammar skills, students will study:
